This is my contribution to Susan's weekly Black and White Wednesday event. It is a picture of dried red cherry chilies and cumin seeds--one of my favorite things to temper my Indian dishes with.
This is my everyday spice box--phodnicha daba, as we'd call it in Marathi. All families have their own selection of spices that they use for everyday cooking. Mine contains mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram daal, red chilies, fenugreek seeds, turmeric, and asafetida. (I have another similar box for ground spices.)

Beautiful photos Saee!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar dabba for spices and I use it every single day of my life! What would our lives be without these spices ;)
Love the pictures. Spice boxes are an integral part of India cooking - I can't cook efficiently if I don't have all the spices in the right place!
